In the draw for the 2014 World Cup, the United States was placed in Group G, along with Germany, Ghana and Portugal.

With all four teams having advanced to the second round in World Cup 2010, Group G is considered by many as the tournament's "Group of Death."

For the US, making their seventh straight World Cup appearance, they are faced with the daunting task of taking on perennial championship contenders Germany, a Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal, and Ghana, who have eliminated the US in three different World Cups ('06, '10, and the '13 U-20 World Cup).

The US is set to begin play against Ghana on June 16 in Natal, on the east coast of Brazil, then travel to Manaus, located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, to play Portugal on June 22, and then travel back to the east coast to play Germany on June 26, in Recife. It is the longest travel schedule of any World Cup team; nearly 9,000 miles
