The last few months have been a wild ride for Juan Agudelo who signed with Stoke City only to have his work permit appeal denied.

Over the weekend, however, Agudelo's situation became clearer after he joined Utrecht on loan for the remainder of the Eredivisie season. The news was independently confirmed to YA on Friday.

The move will serve two purposes for Agudelo. The first is that it will finally give Agudelo a chance to play for the first time since New England was eliminated from the MLS playoffs in November. Finally, it will give the Colombian-born, New Jersey-raised forward a chance to build himself a stronger case for a UK work permit to join Stoke City next season.

Utrecht certainly can use the help. It lost to Feyenoord 5-2 at home on Sunday and now sits in ninth plae in the Eredivisie.
