PREVIEW: WEEKEND AUSTRIAN ACTION
Conor O'Brien and Neustadt will hope that their dominance this season over local rivals Wacker will continue while Shawn Barry will be a spectator when Linz travel to FAC.
FC Admira Wacker - SC Wiener Neustadt
Conor O'Brien and Wiener Neustadt will try to net their first league win in more than two months when they face local foes FC Admira Wacker.
Neustadt were dealt another blow in the midweek in what looks to be a one-way trip towards relegation, giving up four goals to visiting SV Grödig. This left them a daunting five points adrift of safety, with a horrendous -24 goal differential effectively adding another to their deficit.
If there was any time for them to continue their dominance over Wacker, the one foe against whom they have consistently had the upper hand, it is now.
The teams have faced off two times so far this season, with Neustadt winning a wild 5-4 contest in league play in late-August, and squeaking out a penalty shootout win in cup play a few weeks later.
Admira have also been less than spectacular as of late, failing to win over their last seven, and failing to get on the scoresheet in a 2-0 loss to league leaders RB Salzburg last weekend.
Neither team is reporting any absences.
Shawn Barry is serving out the second of a two-game ban for a red card in Linz's recent Austrian Cup game, and will not take part on Friday when they try to extend their grip on first place with a trip to FAC Team für Wien.
Keith Cardona will not be in uniform on Friday when Liefering host Mattersburg in a battle for the Ersta Liga's second spot.
