Fabian Johnson and Timmy Chandler advanced to the semi-finals of the German Cup with their respective teams while Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund got snowed in.

Hamburg 1-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

The Foals booked their place in the German Cup semifinals with two second half penalties to get by Hamburg at the Volkspark Stadion.

Bobby Wood started the game for Hamburg while Fabian Johnson came off the bench for Gladbach.

The visitors opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half when Lars Stindl put away his shot from the penalty spot after Mergim Mavraj brought Patrick Herrmann down.

Raffaell would go on to double Gladbach's lead in the 61st minute with the team's second penalty of the night. This time around Matthias Ostrzolek fouled Jonas Hofmann.

Wood cut the lead in stoppage time for Hamburg, but the damage was already done.

Gladbach will face Eintracht Frankfurt on April 25.


Timmy Chandler started for Eintracht Frankfurt in their 1-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld.

Christian Pulisic and Borussia Dortmund's German Cup quarterfinal game against Sportfreunde Lotte was postponed as game officials declared the field unplayable due to the effects of a snow storm. However, BVB's problems were off the field as their bus was stuck in the snow. Fortunately, a tractor freed them from their predicament.
