RUBIO RUBIN JOINS STABAEK
Rubio Rubin's search for a new team has come to an end as Norwegian Eliteserien team Stabaek announced on Friday that they signed the forward.
The deal runs until the end of the season, but Stabaek officials have said that if Rubin plays well, they would look to extend his contract.
The 21-year-old is joining his third team in his young career. He spent three seasons with FC Utrecht in the Eredivisie, where he did show promise. However, injuries would stunt his progress and he would spend much of the time either on the bench or playing for the reserve team.
Rubin was then headed to Danish Superliga team Silkeborg at the start of the year after being released by Utrecht. However, he only played sparingly during the season and the team did not re-sign him.
Stabaek, the former team of coach Bob Bradley, currently sit in sixth place in the standings with 25 points as the Eliteserien enters the second half of its season.
Rubin is not yet eligible to play for the Stabaek, but once his paperwork comes through he could suit up for them in their game against Haugesund on August 13.
