STUTTGART LOANS OUT GREEN
Julian Green will be looking to earn playing time in the 2. Bundesliga as it was announced on Thursday that he has been loaned to SpVgg Greuther Fürth from VfB Stuttgart.
The loan, which will last for the season, sees the 22-year-old winger join his fourth team in his young career.
After joining Stuttgart during the January 2017 transfer window, he played a bit part in the team that earned promotion back to the Bundesliga as they went on to win the second division crown. However, head coach Hannes Wolf has determined that the player does not fit into his plans this season, thus leading to the move back down a division.
The Shamrocks, who are currently at the bottom of the standings, hope Green can help the team turn things around when league play starts after the international break.
"Julian is a young and ambitious player, who most of all stands out with his pace. He has been trained well in Bayern Munich's academy and is a reinforcement for our wing," said Greuther Fürth sporting director Ramazan Yildirim on the team's website.
Green has so far found it difficult to break into the starting line-up of the teams he has played for through the years. As a promising prospect for Bayern Munich, he looked to be one for the future as he scored regularly for the youth and reserve teams. This led the Bavarians to send him out on a season-long loan to Hamburg during the 2015-15 Bundesliga season in hopes of getting him some first team experience.
However, his time with the north German team did not work out as he was limited to only 113 minutes on the field.
A return to Bayern Munich saw him earn a place on the first team following a good preseason. Despite sitting on the bench, he did make it into the starting lineup for the team's German Cup game in October 2016 and scored a goal in their 3-1 win over Augsburg.
The German-American will have his first opportunity to step on the field for Greuther Fürth when they face Dynamo Dresden on Sept. 9.
