MIX SIGNS WITH MANCHESTER CITY
Midfielder Mix Diskerud will be heading to England as he has signed with English Premier League team Manchester City in the most peculiar moves in the winter transfer window.
However, announcement of the signing of the Norwegian-American did not come the team but through sports apparel maker Umbro, which posted the news on Twitter on Saturday.
"Delighted to report the news that @MixDiskerud will further be cementing his relationship with Umbro in our hometown, as he proudly continues his footballing development with a 4,5y Manchester City FC contract," Umbro tweeted.
This may still be sinking in for many, but before there is talk of whether the 27-year-old will step foot on the field for the team, there are a few that must be understood. One, according to reports, Diskerud will train with the reserves and not the first team. Two, City hope to send him out on loan and eventually sell him.
Diskerud has had a turbulent couple of years in his career. After playing regularly in Norway for teams such as Staebak and Rosenborg, he made the move to the United States where he signed with New York City FC. Everything appeared to be going well until the team hired Patrick Viera, which then saw him out of favor.
NYCFC would send Diskerud out on loan to Swedish Allsvenskan team IFK Goteborg in 2017 where he would play a total of 29 games and score five goals.
