PALMER-BROWN OFF TO BELGIUM
Erik Palmer-Brown is heading to Belgium as Manchester City have decided to loan the defender to Belgian Pro League team K.V. Kortrijk for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old, who signed with the English Premier League after his contract with Sporting KC expired, does not meet the requirements to obtain a work permit, thus leading to City to ship their new signing to Belgium.
Palmer-Brown has been a highly-rated center back for some time as he first received interest from Italian Serie A giants Juventus back in 2014. However, Sporting KC would turn down bids from the Old Lady.
The Missouri-native would then get his first taste of soccer in Europe when he was loaned to FC Porto B in 2016. He would earn his way into the team that went on to win the LigaPro title that year.
On the international stage, Palmer-Brown has shown himself to be one of the top prospects for the senior US national team as he captained the U-20 team to win the CONCACAF Championship and the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017.
K.V. Kortrijk currently sits in ninth place in the Pro League standings.
