TILLMAN RETURNS TO GREUTHER FURTH
KENYA BROWN - Friday, January 3, 2020
Timothy Tillman has left Bayern Munich as it was announced on Friday that the midfielder agreed to a deal with 2. Bundesliga team Greuther Furth.

The 21-year-old has signed a two-year contract with an option for 2023.

"Timothy has great talent and now wants to finally move up to the men's area. We will support him in this and are happy to have him back at Furth at the start of training," said Greuther Furth's managing director Rachid Azzouzi.

Tillman is no stranger to the Cloverleaves as he was an academy player with the team for six years before heading to the Bavarian giants. He spent the majority of his time with Bayern Munich II in addition to a season-long loan with FC Nurnberg in 2018.

The German-American did not play in the first half of this season as he worked to overcome some injuries. But now it appears he is back to full fitness and will be looking to help Greuther Furth make a push for one of the promotion places to the Bundesliga. The team currently sits in eighth place in the standings with 25 points, six points away from the second and third place spots.

With his club future now secure, Tillman is raring to go and hopefully work his way into the starting line-up when the season restarts after the winter break.

"I worked hard in rehab to be fit for the second half of the season. I am very happy to be back at my youth club, back at the Shamrock," said Tillman.

Tillman will be looking to take the field alongside fellow American Julian Green when Greuther Furth face St. Pauli on Jan. 28.
