PARKHURST SIGNS WITH FC NORDSJAELLAND
MICHAEL ADUBATO - Thursday, December 11, 2008
New England Revolution's three-time all-star Michael Parkhurst has left behind MLS by signing a three-year deal with FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

"I consider the contract with Michael as a real scoop for FC Nordsjaelland," the teamís Sports Director Jan Laursen said in a statement released to YA.

"He is definitely one of the best defenders in MLS and he already has a lot of experience through more than 100 games in the MLS and his debut in the national team. At the same time his age means he still has his best years as a footballer ahead of him."

Parkhurst, who was named MLS Defender of the Year in 2007, will join his new team in Denmark on January 5th to start training during the league break, before they head to the south of Spain later that month.

With players such as Danny Califf, Benny Feilhaber and Jeremiah White already plying their trade in the Superliagen, the Wake Forest alumnus becomes the sixth American to join the Danish top division.

The Superligaen returns to league play on March 1st when Parkhurst and eighth place Nordsjaelland travel to relegation threatened Vijle.
