Edgar Castillo and Tigres got their first win while Marco Vidal and Indios still have not found the back of the net on the young 2009 Apertura campaign.

Chivas 1 - 3 Tigres

Tigres went on the road and handily beat Chivas at Estadio Jalisco on Saturday evening in Guadalajara.

Defender Edgar Castillo started and went the full 90 minutes for head coach Daniel Guzman.

After struggling all last week to find the back of the net, Guzman's squad needed just five minutes before breaking the ice when Francisco Fonseca took a pass from Itamar Batista and scored with a shot just inside the left post.

Tigres doubled the margin in the 34th when Fonseca returned the favor by setting up Batista who fired a laser into the Chivas net.

The hosts came out for the second half in hopes of an early goal and would get it in the 50th minute when Alberto Medina lofted a ball to Javier Hernandez who headed the ball into the net.

Tigres responded just 11 minutes later when Batista scored his second of the game fielding a pass from Aaron Galindo and depositing a shot inside the right post sending Castillo and company to their first victory of the season.

With four points in its first two games, Guzman's team will return home next Saturday to face Jaguares.

Santos - Indios

Santos used a 79th penalty conversion to slide past Indios at Estadio Corona on Sunday afternoon.

Right back Marco Vidal started and went the full 90 minutes for head coach Hector Eugui whose club has still yet to score in its first two games for the 2009 Apertura.

The home fans saw their squad start strong putting Vidal and the Indios defense on their heels.

However Santos Sergio Bueno frustration grew as his team could not convert any opportunities as the Indios defense held firm.

Finally in the 79th minute, a push in the area by Indios defender Javier Malagueno was whistled by the referee despite a vehement argument by Eugui.

Juan Pablo Rodriguez calmly converted the penalty giving Santos the three points.

Vidal and Indios return home to square off against Club America.
