RECAP: GO AHEAD EAGLES 3 - 2 HELMOND SPORT
American Charles Kazlauskas scored the opening goal but it wouldn't be enough as Helmond Sport fell on the road to the Go Ahead Eagles on Monday evening.
The first-half was a boring affair as neither team would find the back of the net. Offensive fireworks exploded after the break with all five goals coming in the second half of action at De Adelaarshorst Stadium.
In the 54th minute Kazlauskas headed Mark Veldmate's free kick past goalkeeper Remko Pasveer to give the visitors the one goal lead. The Wisconsin native once again went the full 90 minutes at right midfield.
Lazy defending just two minutes later allowed Go Ahead Eagles striker Reza Ghoochannejhad to turn in the area and fire past Robert Van Westerop from the top of the six-yard box.
The home team took the lead in the 69th when Maikel Kieftenbald's cross skipped across the penalty area to the far post. Joey Suk slid the ball under Van Westerop for the second goal for the home team.
Just ten minutes later a nearly identical cross, this time from Suk on the left, found Jules Reimerink at the opposite post and the Go Ahead Eagles doubled their lead.
Veldmate would add a goal of his own in the 90th minute when he finished after a darting run down the right side by 76th minute substitute Youssef Chida.
Hemond Sport will travel home to face MVV Maastricht on Friday evening.
