RECAP: HELMOND SPORT 2-4 MVV MAASTRICHT
Helmond Sport gave up three goals before getting one back but it wasn't enough for the home team as they fell on Friday evening.
American Charles Kazlauskas once again took his normal spot in the midfield and went the distance in the loss.
The visitors were the first on the scoreboard when striker Daniel Gomez turned Jeffrey Altheer in the 21st minute. MVV Maastricht's leading scorer then cooly struck past Robert Van Westerop.
Gomez was involved 17 minutes later when he sprung a ball out wide to Malcolm Esajas. The striker blasted a left footed shot that beat Van Westerop and clanged off the far post.
Just seconds before the end of the half, Gomex turned provider once again when he muscled off the Helmond defense before laying the ball to a wide open Gideon Boateng who skipped it past the keeper.
The home team got one back eight minutes in to the second half when Marc Hocher played the ball to Johan Voskamp in the penalty area. Voskamp turned his defender and unleashed a blast that raced past Ruud Boffin.
Voskamp, who was a substitute at half-time, added a second in the 84th minute when he headed home a corner to bring the hosts to within a goal of tying the score.
Gomez added his second in second half stoppage time, curling a left footed shot to the far corner past a stunned Van Westerop.
Helmond will travel to AGOVV Apeldoorn for a game next Friday.
