Norwegian 1. Division club Lov-Ham is confirming that Colorado Rapids defender Rob Valentino is currently trialing with the Scandinavian squad.

Valentino played his college soccer at the University of San Francisco where he starred for four seasons before signing a Generation Adidas contract.

The New England Revolution drafted the Illinois native as the 13th overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. Despite getting selected in the first round, Valentino struggled to see the field with the Revolution and only factored in a US Open Cup match with the club.

The California resident was then traded to the Colorado Rapids in August of last year but has yet to make his debut in MLS.

With the 1. Division and MLS seasons starting soon, an opportunity has arisen where the Rapids could send Valentino to join Lov-Ham on loan in order to receive more playing time. The Norwegian club says the former Don is with the club but that no decision has been made regarding a contract offer.

"Rob Valentino is on trial, but we've not decided yet if we'll go any further on negotiations," confirmed Lov-Ham spokesman Tom Mangersnes to YA.

Valentino started at center back and went the full 90 minutes in Lov-Ham's 1-5 friendly loss to Eliteserien club Brann on Wednesday.
