American midfielder Charles Kazlauskas made a move from FC Oss to Helmond Sport last summer, and the move is paying off for the Wisconsin native as the Dutch season winds down.

"Things are great at the moment in Helmond," Kaz told Yanks Abroad over the weekend.

In a pair of recent victories, Kazlauskas scored from his regular midfield position with a thundering volley and then followed it up on Friday with a header from inside the six-yard box.

"It is always nice to score a goal, hopefully I can score two or three to close out the season."

Under head coach Jürgen Streppel, the team leads the fourth period standings with the winner assured a spot in the Eerste Divisie playoffs. When asked about the team's recent success, Kazlauskas was frank with his own assessment.

"I think it is a combination of strong practices, reducing our own mistakes during games and studying the opponent."

"We have won 4 in a row and are still in the race for a place in the playoffs at the end of the season," Kaz continued.

Despite a pair of losses to De Graafschap and FC Omniworld in late January, the team came back from the winter break strong. They've won five of seven while outscoring their opponents 14 to 3.

"We have nine games left and our goal is still to qualify for the playoffs. We are in good position, but the job is not quite finished," he concluded.

Kazlauskus and Helmond return to action on Friday evening when they travel to Den Bosch.
