RECAP: WEEKEND SWEDISH ACTION
Ryan Miller and Alejandro Bedoya both went the distance for their clubs, while Johann Smith made his debut as a late sub in the Allsvenskan's third week.
Örebro 0 – 2 Mjällby
Alejandro Bedoya played the full match in midfield, as Örebro lost to Allsvenskan newcomers Mjällby.
Mjällby broke through in the 15th minute when a Robin Cederberg free kick found Marcus Ekenberg open for a header to the backpost. The goal was Ekenberg's fourth so far of the season, ranking him as the Allsvenskan's top scorer, an honor he held in the Superettan last season.
Two minutes later, central forward Marcus Olsen had Örebro's best chance as a close range header was on target but saved by keeper Mattias Asper.
Olsen may regret not making more of the chances he had. Paulinho Guará, Örebro's new high-profile striker was a late scratch with stomach illness.
The match was put out of reach in the 80th minute as Mostafa El Kabir powered in a rebound that keeper John Alvbåge could not control.
A disappointing start to the season won't get any easier when Örebro head to Solna to take on AIK next weekend.
Halmstad 4 – 0 Åtvidaberg
After a horrible showing against Elfsborg, Ryan Miller's Halmstad got on the scoreboard early and often at home, as they took out their aggression on Åtvidaberg.
Anel Raskaj opened in the sixth minute with a line drive from several paces outside the penalty area.
Emil Salomonsson kept the pressure on three minutes into the second half. Joe Sise had his shot snuffed out but Salomonsson found the rebound and made no mistake in slotting it past the keeper.
Eight minutes from time, Alexander Prent continued the fireworks. He took a long pass over his shoulder and volleyed in a pretty goal just outside the penalty area.
In the 90th, Johnny Lundberg out-jumped the keeper for a simple header off a corner.
While Miller was a 90 minute man, Michael Thomas remained on the bench.
Halmstad have the unenviable task of playing in Malmö next week.
Kalmar 2 - 2 Elfsborg
Johann Smith made his debut appearance in the 81st minute as Kalmar was able to rescue its second point of the season against a strong Elfsborg side.
In the 89th minute Ricardo Santos took in an ambitious shot that evened the score. The goal was Santos' second of the match and third of the season.
Smith didn't see much of the ball in his short run, but was worrying defenders on the opposite wing when the goal was scored.
Next week Kalmar gets their shot at Åtvidaberg, who have yet to manage a goal in three losses. Elfsborg will take on local rival Häcken BK in Göteborg.
