FC Den Bosch walked away with an important one goal victory over Helmond Sport in Monday evening's first leg of their playoff battle.

Charles Kazlauskas, who scored the lone goal in the 14th minute for Jürgen Streppel's team, went the distance in midfield.

The scoring all happened within a four minute span in the first half. Den Bosch striker Fabio Caracciolo hit first, just 13 minutes in to the game with a thunderous free-kick from outside the area.

Helmond goalkeeper Robert Van Westerop was able to get his hand to the ball but was unable to stop it from crossing the goal line.

Kazlauskas answered a minute later for the home team with his own redirection of Johan Voskamp's free-kick insider the six-yard box. It was the American's sixth goal of the season, third best on the team behind Voskamp and Marc Höcher.

Caracciolo's striker partner Paul Jans scored the eventual game winner in the 17th minute when he slipped behind the Helmond defense and struck his left-footed shot past a sprawling Van Westerop.

Defender Angelo Martha picked up his second yellow card of the game in the 93rd minute bringing down second half substitute Youssef Chida and will miss out on Thursday return leg for the "Blue White Dragons" at De Vliert.
