PREVIEW: MIDWEEK NORWEGIAN ACTION
Stabaek and Mikkel Diskerud head to Rosenborg country while Hunter Freeman and Clarence Goodson of Start travel to Oslo to face Lillestrom mid week.
Rosenborg - Stabaek
A tenth ranked Stabaek and Mikkel Diskerud travels to Trondheim to play Erik Hameren's Rosenborg squad at Lerkendal Stadion.
When the two teams meet up Wednesday it will mark 17 win-less days for Stabaek whom sit much lower than desired in the Eliteserien rankings. At least a tie for one point against Rosenborg is needed for Stabaek to stop their perpetual sinking from the top.
Diskerud will likely start in his usual right midfield spot and hopes to contribute to a Jan Jonsson offense that is averaging just one goal a game. A goal for Diskerud against the 3rd ranked Rosenborg would be his second of the 2010 season.
Both teams are coming off a 0-0 tie, Stabaek at Ulleval Stadion versus Haugesund and Rosenborg against Tromsø at Alfheim Stadion.
There are several question marks for Jonsson's starting line up, including starting attackers Daniel Nannskog and Johan Anderson in addition to midfielder Pontus Farnerud. All three were unable to play in the Haugesund tie Sunday due to injury.
Rosenborg remains as the lone team in the Eliteserien without a loss, they look to continue their streak with a three point win over Stabaek which would be their first since the 14th of April which came over Brann.
Start - Lillestrom
Hunter Freeman and Clarence Goodson will be called upon to defend for Start at right and center back respectively as they face Lillestrom at home.
Head Coach Knut Torum will rely on Christer Kleiven to steer his high scoring attack against a tough Lillestrom defense whom have conceeded only four goals this season. Start continues to lead the Eliteserien with 19 team goals scored as does Kleiven with six indiviual goals.
At the same time Lillestrom, whom sit just one spot below Start in sixth, have allowed the least amount of goals by their opponents.
Lillestrom is the only team without a loss through nine weeks of play, which came in the season opener against current Eliteserien leader, Aalesunds.
Start with only two losses, conceeded both over their last three games. They hope to change that trend with a home win and three points on their continued quest to the top of the rankings.
Following a tie 1-1 to Molde at home, Hønefoss travels to Oslo to face Valerenga at Ulleval Stadion. Goalkeeper Steve Clark continues to rehab his strained quad and will not play while attacker Kenneth Di Vita Jensen is a likely second half subsitute.
Colin Burns will support Sarpsborg from the bench as they host league leaders Ranheim in 1. Division midweek action.
