Pachuca Houston Dynamo

The 2010 Superliga begins on Thursday night for Pachuca as they reignite their longtime feud with cross-border rivals, Houston Dynamo. The Superliga, a Concacaf sanctioned tournament, is an eight team tournament consisting of four teams each from the Mexican league and Major League Soccer.

The game will be the first official game for Pachuca since the FIFA World Cup and will give U.S. national team players Herculez Gomez and Francisco Torres a chance to reunite after their time in South Africa. Gomez recently joined Pachuca after a dream season saw the Las Vegas native become the Mexican league leader in goals scored. That amazing run earned him a surprise spot on the US World Cup team.

Gomez and Torres will be joined by fellow American Marco Vidal, who is on loan to Pachuca after his previous team, Indios, was relegated.

Pachuca will look to continue their recent dominance over Houston after defeating the Dynamo in both legs of the Concacaf Champions League last year. Pachuca are in search of their second Superliga crown after winning in a penalty shoot out in the Superliga's inaugural tournament against the LA Galaxy. They will also be seeking to avenge their loss to the Dynamo in the 2008 tournament.
