RECAP: SCR ALTACH 4 – SV SCHOLZ GRÖDIG 0
Josh Gatt and Altach continue their season-opening winning streak after thumping the fourth-spot holders in the Erste Liga thanks to a quartet of tallies on home turf.
The Plymouth, Michigan native made his second appearance for the club this season as a second half substitute in the midfield.
Harald Unverdorben brought the hosts ahead against the Salzburgers with his fourth and fifth of the season in the 12th and 49th minute respectively. Matthias Koch relayed a feed from Andreas Lienhart to the Austrian striker in the box from the right side to open the scoring.
Unverdorben claimed his second of the evening after a failed first attempt on Grödig keeper Georg Blatnik and a follow-up attempt from Daniel Schütz. The Austrian made no mistake with the third try for the 2-0 lead, bringing him to second in league scoring.
Spanish striker Tomi stretched the lead with his fourth of the season in the 55th minute, a header off a corner into the upper-left netting of Blatnik's net.
Gatt replaced Unverdorben in the 68th minute, the 18-year old's second appearance for the Austrian club since coming on board this summer.
Midfielder Daniel Schütz added a consolation in the 80th for the 3,400 in attendance at Altach's Cashpoint Arena.
Now boasting five wins in as many games, Coach Adi Hütter's men continue to occupy the top spot in the ten-team standings, still two ahead of Vienna's FC Admira. The Black and Golds will carry their momentum to the southeast of Austria on Friday, when they clash with Carynthian squad and third-place residents Wolfsburger AC/St. Andrä.
