RECAP: PSG 3 - 1 SAINT ETIENNE
TRAFTON KENNEY - Monday, August 9, 2010
Carlos Bocanegra made his full debut with Saint-Etienne in their opening game of Ligue 1 but Les Verts were no match for Paris Saint-Germain in the capital city.

After trading Brittany for the Loire, Bocanegra started and played the full game at left fullback for his new team.

While it was never going to be an easy game for Saint-Etienne, Coach Christophe Galtier must have been concerned to see his team succumb so early to pressure by Paris Saint-Germain.

Five minutes had barely passed before Guillaume Hoarau picked out Melvut Erding who finished through the legs of Jérémie Janot for his first goal of the season.

After close misses by both Erding and Zoumana Camara, Saint-Etienne made the most of their limited possession and brought things level in the 39th minute through Dimitri Payet.

Parity, however, would be short-lived when Stéphane Sessegnon brought PSG ahead again in the 42nd minute with a scissor-kick that rebounded off the post only to bounce back into the goal off of Janot's head.

New signing Nene finished the game off with eight minutes to play when he volleyed Ludovic Giuly's deflected cross home from close range.

Saint-Etienne will hope to rebound next weekend when they face Sochaux on Saturday.
