RECAP: WEEKEND FINNISH ACTION
BRI-MATHIAS HODGE - Tuesday, August 17, 2010
Greg Eckhardt was the only yank in action during derby weekend in Finland as VPS split the points with Jaro while an injured Daniel Antunez looked on from the bench during Inter's loss to TPS.

VPS 1 - 1 FF Jaro

Greg Eckhardt was a 63rd minute substitutes as VPS tied local rivals Jaro on Monday evening at Hietalahti.

The defender replaced VPS' new signing Osahon Eboigbe, a Nigerian striker, in the year's second edition of the Pohjanmaa derby.

After a scoreless first half former Finland international Alexei Eremenko Jr. put the guests in the lead just three minutes into the second stanza.

Jussi-Pekka Savolainen leveled the terms just six minutes later to salvage a point for the hosts.

VPS is currently ninth in the Veikkausliiga table, tied with Inter and Haka on points while Jaro is three points ahead in fifth, tied with Tampere United.

Goalkeeper Brian Pope is out long-term for VPS with a shoulder injury.

Notes:

Daniel Antunez is injured and did not appear as Inter lost the Turku derby 2-1 to TPS Sunday at Veritas Stadium.
