Greg Eckhardt was the only yank in action as VPS got a shock win away at KuPS in Finnish Veikkausliiga action.

KuPS 1 - 2 VPS

Greg Eckhardt started and went the distance in defense as VPS held on to two first half goals to beat third place KuPS at the Magnum Areena on Monday night.

The West-coasters got on the board first in the 20th minute when Pekka Kainu took down a long ball from Jussi-Pekka Savolainen in the box, turned and beat KuPS keeper Mikko Vilmunen with a low shot into the corner.

The former Lahti striker got his team leading sixth goal of the season just seven minutes later, taking a Jussi Aalto pass and finding the left corner of the net, despite heavy defensive pressure.

KuPS' brilliantly named new Nigerian signing Dudu pulled one back for the hosts 15 minutes into the second half, converting a cross from Miikka Ilo past VPS keeper Kwon Jung-Hyuk.

With the win VPS are now eighth in the fourteen team Veikkausliiga table, tied on points with TamU.

Brian Pope is still out for VPS with a shoulder injury.

Daniel Antunez was out injured as FC Inter topped Tampere United 1-0 in a Sunday game at Ratina Stadion.
