PREVIEW: WEEKEND NORWEGIAN ACTION
Stabaek will try to climb up the league standings when they host Lillestrom while Start hopes to spoil an undefeated season for Eliteserien leaders Rosenborg for the second year in a row.
Stabæk - Lillestrom
Norwegian-Americans Mikkel Diskerud, Erik Benjaminsen and Stabæk host ninth ranked Lillestrom Sunday at Telenor Arena in Baerum.
Diskerud will likely start at right midfield while Benjaminsen, who just signed with the senior club less than a week ago, will watch from the sidelines.
A previous meeting between these two teams ended in a 0-0 tie in the season's fifth round of play.
It should be an interesting match-up between two teams who currently float in the middle of the Eliteserien rankings and have struggled as of late.
Stabæk has seen losses in three of their last four games while Lillestrom has dropped two in the same time period.
Both Stabæk and Lillestrom appear to be injury free.
Start - Rosenborg
The American defensive duo of Hunter Freeman and Clarence Goodson take on the Eliteserien leaders when Start plays host to Rosenborg Sunday at Sør Arena.
The teams have met twice this season, first in the second round of league play where they tied 3-3 and most recently on August 14th where Start fell 3-4 in the fifth round of the Norwegian Cup.
However what will be at the forefront of everyone's mind was how Start ruined Rosenborg's perfect season last year in the final weeks when they claimed a controversial 2-3 victory in Trondheim.
Knut Torum's squad will hope to match that feat this time in front of their home fans.
They will face this challenge without starting midfielder Geir Ludvig Fevang who will be in Belgium signing final papers with an undisclosed club.
Start are not reporting any major injuries while Rosenborg will be without midfielder Per Ciljan Skjelbred due to a hamstring injury.
Åalesund - Hønefoss
Norwegian-American Kenneth Di Vita Jensen will make his sixth start in as many games Sunday as Hønefoss travels to the west coast to face Åalesund at Color Line Stadium.
Although he has started the majority of games at right midfield, Di Vita Jensen will likely start Sunday's game as a striker due to injuries to leading scorers Davy Angan and Lennart Steffansen.
Compatriot Steve Clark will continue his battle for the starting keeper position from the sidelines.
The two teams met earlier this year in March when Hønefoss fell 0-2.
Åalesund are injury free.
1. Division keeper Joe Bendik will watch from the sidelines as league leaders Sogndal hosts Moss Sunday at Fosshaugane Stadium.
Colin Burns and Sarpsborg have the week off.
