PREVIEW: WEEKEND MEXICAN ACTION
Herculez Gomez visits his old team as pachuca duels with Puebla while Sammy Ochoa will look to score his second goal of the tournament versus Morelia.
Estudiantes – Morelia
Estudiantes host Morelia on Friday night as they seek their second consecutive win.
American Sammy Ochoa scored his first goal of the season last week in the win over San Luis, and will look to add a second as he appears to have cemented his starting spot in the Estudiantes lineup.
Estudiantes will take on a potent Morelia offense led by longtime Mexican national team player, Miguel Sabah, as well as Rafael Lugo and Luis Rey.
The hosts will also be without the benefit of their head coach, Miguel Herrera who was suspended last week in addition to players Jorge Zamogilny and Rafael Medina whom are injured.
Morelia will be without Mauricio Romero who is serving a suspension and Kalú Gastélum and Aldo Leao whom are injured.
San Luis – Atlante
San Luis will look to recover from their loss last week to Estudiantes when they host struggling Atlante on Saturday.
It is an important game for both teams who have found little success this tournament and together have a combined four points.
Edgar Castillo is projected to start despite having seen his playing time gradually decreasing over the course of the tournament.
Nevertheless, he has proved valuable in the minutes he has played by scoring a goal in a defeat to Puebla.
San Luis will be without Daniel Alcantar who is suspended while Atlante will be missing Luis Venegas who is injured.
Puebla – Pachuca
Herculez Gomez gets to visit his old team when Pachuca visits Puebla on Sunday.
It will be the first game for Puebla since the sudden resignation of head coach José Luis Sánchez Solá "El Chelis" last week due to disagreements with the club's management.
Pachuca, however, are coming off a head coaching change of their own, although they responded positively with a last minute tie against Monterrey last week in their first game with the new head coach.
Jose Francisco Torres will look to start, while Gomez looks most likely to see minutes as a second half substitute.
Marco Vidal hasn't dressed for Pachuca recently, but will look to make the game day roster.
