PREVIEW: SAINT ETIENNE - MONTPELLIER
Carlos Bocanegra and a confident Saint Etienne squad play host to Montpellier this Saturday as Les Verts hope to build on their recent run of solid play.
Bocanegra has settled in well in his customary spot at left fullback and put in a 90 minute shift in defense during last weekend's 1-0 win over league leaders Toulouse.
While Coach Christophe Galtier will be pleased with his team's defense - at least compared to last season - he is likely even more encouraged by their attacking prowess.
With eight goals in five games this season, Saint Etienne has relied on midfielders like Dimitri Payet and Loic Perrin - who have notched six goals between them - to contribute on the counterattack.
Neither player will find it easy against Montpellier. Their defense, led by Emir Spahic and Mapou Yangambiwa, has only conceded two goals in five games and is arguably the best in Ligue 1 along with Rennes.
Galtier will need young players like Sylvain Monsoreau, Christophe Landrin, and Perrin to be at their best if Saint Etienne expect a positive result.
