DANISH CUP FOURTH ROUND DRAW
The fourth round of the Danish Cup was drawn, giving Benny Feilhaber and Aarhus a clear path to the quarterfinals while sending Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjælland on tough trip to Odense.
Feilhaber and Aarhus will have breathed a sigh of relief upon release of the draw as they had the fortune to be pitted against the lowest-ranked team remaining in the competition, Varde IF of the third-level 2. Division West.
Aarhus reached the fourth round by pulling out a wild extra time victory over Skive, a game which saw Feilhaber net a trio of goals and the team put three past their opponents during the two 15-minute added periods.
Varde pulled off the shock result of the round, doing away with Superligaen team Brøndby in a 4-2 victory, and will be keen to make a repeat performance against the nine-time cup winners Aarhus.
Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjælland continue their defense of the cup with one of the more daunting match-ups of the round, a visit to fellow Superliga competitors Odense.
Nordsjælland needed a second-half goal to win a tight third-round contest against 1. Division club Hjørring, and are already facing a tougher road to the final than last season, when they faced almost exclusively lower-league opposition.
Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg were rewarded for their 1-0 win over Hobro IK with a home date with Aalborg BK, who could have American forward Chris Rolfe back in the lineup as he nears recovery from a leg injury.
Aalborg reached the round of 16 by way of their 1-0 road win over Næstved BK. Both teams have struggled mightily in their respective divisions, with each currently sitting in the relegation zone.
Games are scheduled to take place during the week of October 26-28 with exact dates and times still to be decided.
