PREVIEW: WEEKEND SWEDISH ACTION
Thursday, October 28, 2010
Alejandro Bedoya and Orebro can clinch a berth in next season's Europa league with a win over IFK Goteburg while Ryan Miller and Halmstad can reach safety with three points against Helsingborg.

Orebro - IFK Goteburg

Alejandro Bedoya and Orebro can look forward to European competition next season should they pick up a victory at home against IFK Goteborg on Monday.

Bedoya is slotted to start at his usual spot in the Orebro midfield.

It has been over a decade since Orebro last appeared in Europe in what was a brief appearance in the 1997-1998 UEFA Cup.

The American and company can put to bed all those years of frustration felt by the faithful at Behrn Arena with a win against Goteburg.

At this stage, Monday's visitors have nothing to play for as they sit too far away from challenging Orebro for that Europa League spot and are also high enough in the standings to not worry about relegation.

Halmstad - Helsingborg

Örjans Vall Stadion in Halmstad willl be the sight of one of the most watched matches this week in the Allsvenskan as Ryan Miller and Halmstad take on title-chasers Helsingborg.

Miller did not feature in last week's match so it remains to be seen if the former Notre Dame standout will be included in Sunday's lineup.

Halmstad currently sit four points above the relegation playoff position and a victory would ensure another season in the Allsvenskan.

However it will be a tall task against visiting Helsingborg who arrive into the match in a dogfight for the 2010 Allsvenskan title.

With a mere two weeks remaining in the season, the visitors are tied on points with Malmö FF but are eight goals behind on goal difference.

Should Miller start for the hosts, he and the rest of the Halmstad defense will have their hands full with Helsinborg's star striker Alexander Gerndt who is tied for the league lead in goals with 19.

Neither team is reporting any major injuries.
