PREVIEW: TOM TOMSK - AMKAR PERM
Coming off his first ever professional goal last weekend, Tomsk forward Eugene Starikov should get the nod on Sunday for the Siberians who welcome in Amkar Perm in week 26 of the Russian Premier League.
Tomsk head man Valeri Nepomniachi will likely give Starikov his second start of the season at forward for Tomsk who will be looking to pad their advantage over Amkar who currently sit in 15th place and in the relegation zone.
Currently Tomsk are in 11th and sit five points ahead of their weekend foes.
Playing time has been hard to come by for Starikov this season but in his lone start of the season last weekend, the loanee from Zenit St. Petersburg made the most of it and scored against Spartak Nalchik.
Nepomniachi has noted publicly to the media that he is pleased what he is seeing out of the young Russian-American and plans to utilize the former Stetson striker for the remainder of the RPL season.
Amkar will present a difficult challenge for Starikov and Tomsk's offense as they boast one of the stingiest defenses in the league.
However the visitors' attack can only be categorized as feeble.
Amkar have scored only 17 goals this season with midfielder Georgi Peev topping the team's scoring list with a laughable total of three.
Neither team appears to be reporting any injuries.
