PREVIEW: WEEKEND NORWEGIAN ACTION
With much of their fate already determined, the Americans head into their final respective rounds as the 2010 Eliteserien and 1. Division seasons come to a close on Sunday.
Molde - Stabæk
Jan Jonsson will act as Stabæk head coach for the final time Sunday as he, Mikkel Diskerud and the rest of the squad travel to Molde to play at Aker Stadion.
Diskerud will likely start at right midfield for a Johnsson squad that endured a slew of injuries this season. Jonsson will step down as head coach following the season as he moves to Eliteserien powerhouse Rosenborg in 2011.
Stabæk looks to finish just below the middle of the pack this year, a far cry from their 2008 Eliteserien championship.
With the exception of striker Danniel Nannskog, neither Stabæk nor Molde are enduring serious injuries.
Earlier this season Stabæk overcame Molde in the 16th round of play.
Sandefjord - Hønefoss
Midfielder Kenneth Di Vita Jensen may get the start Sunday when Hønefoss matches up against the Eliteserien's last placed Sandefjord at Komplett.no Arena.
Di Vita Jensen will probably get the nod at right midfield for a Hønefoss squad destined for post-season playoffs.
Reserve goalkeeper Steve Clark will watch this one from the bench.
With the hosts headed for relegation, Sunday's match up won't promise too much excitement.
Neither teams are suffering from serious injuries.
Following this game Hønefoss will prepare to meet the 1. Division's fifth placed team in a one game, winner-take-all round, before advancing in the playoffs.
Start - Haugesund
Clarence Goodson will pull on his yellow IK Start jersey for the final time Sunday as he and fellow American Hunter Freeman host Haguesund at Sør Arena.
Goodson will play his final game after three years with the Eliteserien club before moving on to Scandinavian power house and Danish club Brøndby for the next three seasons.
Per usual, he will start at center back while Freeman's fate will be decided Friday. Freeman has sat out the past three games in row due to a knee injury.
Start will see the return of Fredrik Stromstad but will be without Christer Kleven who is currently suffering from a leg injury.
The last time these two teams played Haugesund beat Start 4-2.
Mjøndalen - NIL Trysil
Graham Dugoni and Mjøndalen look to finish the season just escaping relegation as they face NIL Trysil at home Sunday.
Dugoni will most likely start at center back although last weekends match against Follo saw him in the midfield.
They face a ninth ranked NIL Trysil whom they lost to in 1-2 in the first round of the 2010 season.
Neither team is currently reporting serious injuries.
Ranheim - Sogndal
With promotion to the Eliteserien awaiting Sogndal in the near future, keeper Joe Bednik will get the nod Sunday against a fourth placed Ranheim at DnB NOR Arena.
Regardless of the outcome of Sunday's match, Sogndal will walk away with a 1. Division league championship and promotion to the Eliteserien.
Their hosts too have a chance for promotion as they will play off against Fredrikstad for a chance to advance in the playoffs.
Neither team is suffering any major injuries.
Earlier this season Sogndal beat Ranheim 2-1.
1. Division keeper Colin Burns will likely watch from the bench as a promotion bound Sarpsborg play Alta at home.
