PREVIEW: VALENCIENNES - SAINT ETIENNE
Thursday, November 11, 2010
A healthy Carlos Bocanegra will try to help right the ship for Saint Etienne who head way up north toward the Belgian border to play Valenciennes at Stade Nungesser on Saturday.

Bocanegra started in Tuesday's Coupe de La Ligue defeat to Auxerre and is likely to make a return appearance in Saint Etienne's starting lineup.

The American defender had missed the previous three weeks due to a neck injury.

It has been a rocky road of late for Saint Etienne who are winless in their last five Ligue 1 matches having only earned two points out of a possible 15.

Their losing spell has dropped them down from top spot to sixth in the standings, however they are still just three points out of first in what has become a very compact and tight Ligue 1 title race where surprising and newly-promoted Brest lead the charge with 21 points.

Adding to the club's recent headaches is the situation involving head coach Christophe Galtier and defender Moustapha Bayal.
The Senegalese international has been suspended indefinitely for what Galtier has cited as "bad behavior" during the match versus Lorient.

Team leading scorer suffered a slight injury against Auxerre and could miss Saturday's contest while Blaise Matuidi and Loc Perrin will not dress due to injury.

Valenciennes sit 14th in Ligue 1 and will be without Gatan Bong on Saturday.
