RONGEN ANNOUNCES ROSTER FOR NEXT CAMP
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Friday, December 10, 2010
US U-20 national team head coach Thomas Rongen has announced a 24 man roster for a camp that will begin on Sunday in Ft. Lauderdale and will feature two games against Canada on the December 16th and 18th.

The roster features a blend of core players who have consistently been part of the team and new players who will be making their debut for the team.

Among the most notable inclusions are Derby County forward Conor Doyle, Hoffenheim winger Joseph Gyau, SCR Altach winger Josh Gatt and University of Michigan star forward Sooney Saad.

Doyle has never played for the US but the Texan earned a call-up by becoming a regular with Derby County earning several appearances with the first team. While he enters into his first US camp, the Irish national team remains in hot pursuit of Doyle's services as the youngster also holds an Irish passport.

Gyau has long been a regular of US youth soccer but was left off of last year's U-17 World Cup team. Now a regular with Hoffenheim's U-19 team, the Maryland native will try to establish himself with the US U-20 team.

Gatt enters the camp on a high note after making a breakthrough with his club SCR Altach in Austria which is pushing for promotion to the top league in the country. Gatt has emerged as a key player for the club in just his first season.

Saad is currently enjoying an incredible freshman season with University of Michigan where he has scored 19 goals so far on the season.

The team will also consist of some of its best players in Dillon Powers, Amobi Okugo, Gale Agbossoumonde, and Adrian Ruelas.

Among the best players not included are West Ham United midfielder Sebastian Lletget, 1860 Munich forward Bobby Wood, Hertha Berli defender Anthony Brooks, Ipswich goalkeeper Cody Cropper and New York Red Bull forward Juan Agudelo.

The camp will be the final time the US U-20 national team assembles in 2010. The first camp of 2011 is scheduled to begin in early January and it is expected that Rongen will make a strong push to include as many top players in the player pool as possible.
