PREVIEW: CLUB BRUGGE - ANDERLECHT
After Europa League action on Thursday night, Anderlecht will head west to take on Club Brugge in Jupiler Pro League action as they try to re-claim the top spot in this last game before Christmas.
Getting the job done in Brussels last night and now going to the Flemish city knowing that their European journey will continue, Coach Ariel Jacobs has a near-fresh Romelu Lukaku to call on, as the big striker was rested for most of the Split game, coming on with just minutes to spare. Sacha Kljestan was a 90-minute man and should also feature against the "Blauw-Zwart" side.
Lucas Biglia is nursing a hamstring injury but has been in training, so his status for Sunday is not yet known. Polish international Marcin Wasilewski picked up an ankle sprain in training and is not expected to take part. Jonathan Legear, Kanu, Cheikhou Kouyate and Ziguy Badibanga are also set to miss out due to various injuries.
For the sixth place Brugge boys, they will look for league victory after losing out to Jozy Altidore and Villareal in their Europa League game on Wednesday night.
Nigerian international Joseph Akpala is back from a recent knee injury but was rested on Wednesday so should be fresh and ready to take on Les Mauves. Club's #1 Stijn Stijnen, was rested as well, along with Carl Hoefkens and Karel Geraerts who have all come off recent injuries. The team claims that they should be ready for Sunday's clash though.
In their first meeting of the season last month in Brussels, Wilfried Dalmat scored for the Flemish after just five minutes, before having their lead doubled by Geraerts 15 minutes later. Anderlecht fought back however with goals from Lukaku and Roland Juhasz as the teams shared the points.
