CUNNINGHAM TRAINING AT START
Jeff Cunningham could very well become the latest yank in Norway as the former FC Dallas man is currently on a training stint with Elitserien club IK Start.
Cunningham spent the last two and a half seasons at Dallas where he won the 2009 MLS Golden Boot.
The 34 year old's career has spanned 12 seasons in MLS so a move to Norway would be his first venture overseas.
Prior to playing with Dallas, Cunningham was a member of the Columbus Crew, Colorado Rapids, Real Salt Lake and Toronto FC.
Following the 2010 season, the Jamaica-born striker's contract option was not picked up by the Texan team and Cunningham was subsequently selected by Columbus in the 2010 Re-Entry Draft.
However an extension in MLS may become a moot point should Start ultimately extend an offer.
The club is the former home of defenders Hunter Freeman and US international Clay Goodson but the club's representative remains coy as to whether or not Cunningham will receive a formal trial.
"Jeff Cunningham is training with us for the next week or two," confirmed Start Media Director Roy Emanuelsen to YA. "We do not call it trial but he is training with the club. Whether we would sign him? Well, you never know in this business... He arrived [Monday] afternoon and will be training Tuesday morning."
Cunningham has appeared in 338 matches in MLS amassing a total of 132 goals scored.
