PREVIEW: WEEKEND MEXICAN ACTION
Jonathan Bornstein and Tigres face the always-tough task of playing in El Azteca as they visit America while Edgar Castillo and Puebla need a win to shake off relegation fears as they host Estudiantes.
Puebla - Estudiantes
Edgar Castillo and Puebla face an early must-win when they welcome in Estudiantes to Estadio Cuauhtelmoc on Sunday.
Castillo has started the first two matches of the Clausura and will likely see his name penciled in for the contest against Estudiantes.
Americans Daniel Antunez and Sammy Ochoa will hope to see some time off the bench for the visitors.
With both teams near the bottom of Mexico's convoluted relegation standings, an emphatic win would be the best remedy to give either team fresh air.
Estudiantes are looking like the stronger squad heading into this affair after they downed Apertura champions Monterrey 3-2 last week.
Meanwhile Puebla were dismal in last week's 3-0 loss to San Luis.
Roberto Suarez is suspended for Puebla while Elgabry Rangel is out injured for Estudiantes.
America - Tigres
Jonathan Bornstein looks set to take the starting 11 for Tigres who head to Estadio Azteca to do battle with America on Sunday in Mexico City.
Bornstein made his debut for the Monterrey club in their 1-0 win over Necaxa playing the first 45 minutes.
The US international had been nagged with a hamstring injury that forced him to sit out the Clausura opener.
While it is well known that the US national team has never recorded a victory in El Azteca, at least one of its members stands to have a shot at pocketing victory in the historic stadium.
Tigres own an impressive streak of having not lost in El Azteca in five years so Bornstein and company will be full of confidence taking on an America club that has barely scratched out a point in its first two matches.
Tigres will have a full squad available while Vincente Sanchez and Antonio Lopez are out injured for America.
Both Herculez Gomez and Jose Francisco Torres will hope to see significant minutes off the bench for Pachuca who pay a visit to 2010 Apertura finalists Santos.
Isaac Acuna could be a second half option for Gallos Blancos who host Morelia.
