RECAP: WEEKEND MEXICAN ACTION
Jose Francisco Torres and Herculez Gomez were the only yanks to see any action in the Mexican Clausura over the weekend as Pachuca were trounced at home by Atlante.
Pachuca 0 - 4 Atlante
Jose Francisco Torres and Herculez Gomez would much rather forget what happened on Saturday at Estadio Hidalgo as Pachuca were humiliated by visiting Atlante.
Torres started at midfielder and went the distance in the desultory defeat while Gomez was brought on as a second half substitute at forward in the 59th minute.
Torres also received a yellow card in the 57th minute.
All four goals by the Cancun club came in the first half effectively ruining the debut of new Tuzos' boss Efrain Flores.
Francisco Fonseca started the barrage in the 20th taking Giancarlos Maldonado's pass and easily pushing it into the Pachuca net.
Just two minutes later Maldonado played provider again, this time setting up Fernando Navarro who slotted past Pachuca goalkeeper Miguel Calero.
Five minutes later in the 27th Fonseca played a ball to Christian Bermudez who then fired home a left-footer for the third goal.
Finally in the 41st minute Atlante capped off their scoring with another Fonseca goal after Maldonado's long-range effort was not collected by Calero which allowed Fonseca to pounce on the rebound and send it in.
Things don't get any easier for rudderless Pachuca as they next visit undefeated Pumas.
Neither Daniel Antunez nor Sammy Ochoa saw any playing time in Estudiantes' 0-2 win over Jaguares in Chiapas.
Jonathan Bornstein watched from the bench as Tigres settled for a 1-1 home draw with San Luis.
Adrian Ruelas did not make the gameday roster for Santos who were downed by Toluca 3-1.
Edgar Castillo did not make the gameday roster for Puebla who succumbed to California-born and newly-called Mexican U-23 international Isaac Acuna's gamewinner in a 2-1 final with Gallos Blancos.
