RECAP: MIDWEEK ENGLISH ACTION
Both Eddie Johnson and Anton Peterlin were on the wrong end in midweek encounters as Preston North End fell to Reading while Plymouth were thumped by Leyton Orient.
Preston North End 1-2 Reading
Eddie Johnson and Preston North End went down to Reading in midweek Championship action.
Johnson started and played 83 minutes in North End's loss.
Reading struck first when Jimmy Kebe scored off of an easy header in the 21st minute. The Preston goalie mistimed a deflected cross, giving the Kebe the easy goal.
North End though struck back with a bit of luck in the 52nd minute. A Keith Treacy free-kick was flicked on by Johnson and hit the post. The ball found Reading goalie Alex McCarthy's back and into the net for an own-goal.
With less then ten minutes in the game, a cross into the box caused a collision between Preston goalie Turner and one of his defenders, leaving Hal Robson-Kanu for an easy game winner.
Reading moves closer to a play-off spot with the win while Preston delve deeper into the relegation zone.
Andy Griffin was booked for Reading while Ian Ashbee and Paul Parry received yellow cards for Preston.
Plymouth Argyle 0-2 Leyton Orient
Anton Peterlin and Plymouth Argyle lost to Leyton Orient in a League One battle.
Peterlin started and went the distance for the Pilgrims.
It took just four minutes for Orient to get on the board after Dean Cox's cross found Jimmy Smith who knocked the ball to Scott McGleish, whose header found the back of the net.
Just minutes later, Orient doubled their lead when Alex Revell picked apart the Arglye defense and found Cox for a hard shot that went through the legs of Plymouth's goalie David Button.
Argyle are at the bottom of the standings and are looking like prime candidates for League Two play next season. Orient revitalized their playoff chances with the win and hope to take that momentum for the rest of the seaon.
Andrew Whing received a yellow card for Orient while Button, Yannick Bolasie and Simon Walton were booked for Plymouth.
