RECAP: SV SANDHAUSEN 5 - 0 RW AHLEN
Matt Taylor went the distance on Wednesday night as ten-man Ahlen were demolished by Sandhausen to edge closer to the relegation zone.
Frank Lönig put his team on the board first when Ahlen failed to effectively clear a 31st minute corner from their area, with the Sandhausen forward blasting the ball in from the left side.
Matters got worse for the visitors ten minutes later when Daniel Flottmann was sent off for clearly pulling Tim Danneberg over as he headed into the area for a one-on-one with keeper Phillip Kühn, with Lönig hitting from the spot for his second on the afternoon.
Ahlen held the deficit through much of the second half, however The flood gates opened wide with 15 minutes remaining, as Marco Pischorn headed in a high, long free kick in the 76th, then Regis Dorn nailed a short header directly in front of goal three minutes later for 4-0.
They scored their fifth and final goal one minute from full time, with Dorn netting his second of the game after working through the lax defense and beating Kühn for 5-0.
The loss, combined with a three-point deduction imposed during the week for their financial difficulties, drops Ahlen to 19th place, now back in the relegation zone two points away from safety. They could get a reprieve on Saturday when they host dead-last Bayern II.
