PREVIEW: WEEKEND DANISH ACTION
Chris Rolfe and Aalborg will try to reduce their gap to top-flight safety while Babajide Ogunbiyi and Viborg face a tough home game against AB Copenhagen in their quest to avoid the drop.
Aalborg BK - AC Horsens
Chris Rolfe will be looking to get on the field on Saturday afternoon when last-place Aalborg try to inch their way out of the league cellar against visiting AC Horsens.
The losses continue to pile up for the under-performing Whites with last weekend's 1-0 home loss to second-place Odense putting them further in the doghouse.
Their gap to safety is now at four points, and a failure to win on Saturday could risk dropping them into a position of having seven points to make up in their quest to keep from dropping down to the First Division next season.
Horsens continue to surprise after their return to the top flight. Barring a magnificent collapse over the final ten games of the season, they are safe from any threat of relegation and even have faint hopes of pushing for a Europa League spot should they manage to put together a run.
While Patrick Kristensen, Lasse Nielsen, Duncan Rasmussen and Ibekwe Chijioke are once again available to take the field for head coach Kent Nielsen, a number of players are still out with injuries.
Defender Kasper Bøgelund is still not yet fully healthy, while forward Ronnie Schwartz is out with a minor ankle problem. Additionally, American forward Marcus Tracy is out for the rest of the season while forward Henrik Dalsgaard and defender Jakob Ahlmann need more time before they are ready to go.
Horsens will be without winger Lasse Kryger who is out with a hamstring problem, however team veteran striker Gilberto Macena will be back in the starting eleven after serving out his card suspension.
Viborg FF - AB Copenhagen
Babajide Ogunbiyi will anchor the heart of Viborg's defense as usual on Sunday afternoon when the team hosts fourth-place AB Copenhagen.
The Greens are desperately in need of a win after last weekend's 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Fredericia dropped them back into the bottom three. The season is not even two-third finished and have ample time to turn things around, but with the league just several weeks away from its home stretch, they could easily find their back against the wall if they don't get a grip on their woes.
The Academics are still one of the teams within reach of a jump to Denmark's top tier, now just six points out of the two promotion spots and hoping that their main competitors just ahead continue to falter.
Viborg should have a full squad available for the game, and will have the added benefit of seeing midfielder Nicolai Melchiorsen return from a card suspension.
Copenhagen are reporting no injuries or suspensions heading into the game.
Michael Parkhurst is out for several weeks with a hamstring injury and will miss Nordsjaelland's visit to SønderjyskE on Sunday.
Clarence Goodson is out for several weeks with an injury and will not suit up for Brøndby on Sunday when they visit Odense BK when they visit Odense on Sunday as the two teams battle for entrance into the Champions League.
Benny Feilhaber is recovering from thigh strain and is not expected to play when first-place Aarhus visit Vestsjaelland on Sunday.
