PREVIEW: RANGERS - ST. MIRREN
Thursday, April 14, 2011
With just seven matches remaining in their Scottish Premier League season, Maurice Edu and Rangers return home to the friendly confines of Ibrox Stadium for a Saturday encounter with St. Mirren.

It will be interesting to see where head coach Walter Smith elects to slot in Edu after the US international performed so ably in defense in Wednesday night's 0-1 at Aberdeen.

Edu, who normally plays central midfielder, may be called up to play right back once again for the injury-plagues Light Blues.

Should right back Madjid Bougherra receive a clean bill of health, then Rangers fans can expect Edu to occupy his normal midfield position.

Rangers are coming off a stretch that saw them play three road matches in a span of eight days, all of which ended in shutout victories for the Glasgow club, helping them keep pace with Old Firm rivals Celtic who sit two points ahead in the SPL standings.

But before they can think about their epic April 24th showdown against the Hoops, Rangers must first take care of business on Saturday against the Buddies and then on Tuesday versus Dundee United.

St. Mirren sit in 11th but are relatively safe from relegation with Hamilton a full 12 points below them in last place.

Lee McCulloch should also be back for Rangers however Kirk Broadfoot and Vladimir Weiss are out.

Both Lee Mair and Craig Dargo will be a gametime decisions for St. Mirren.
