RECAP: MIDWEEK SWEDISH ACTION
Alejandro Bedoya kept up his exceptional start to the Allsvenskan season as he assisted on the game-winning goal for Orebro in their win over Hacken while a pair of Americans saw their Swedish Cup runs end early.
Hacken 1 – 2 Orebro
While still early in the Allsvenskan season, Orebro picked up a valuable three points with a road win over Hacken to stay just three points behind leaders Malmo.
Alejandro Bedoya who has scored twice on the year for Orebro played a full 90 for Orebro.
Andreas Haddad opened the scoring for Orebro in the 31st minute when he scored from a tight angle for his third goal of the season.
Mattias Ranegie equalized for Hacken right before halftime off a goalkeeping error by John Alvbage.
In the 68th minute, Orebro would pull ahead for good when Bedoya beat his man on the right wing with clever dribbling and cut into the box. His cross found Markus Astvald who hit a shot inside the left post past Hacken keeper Patrik Kallqvist for a 2-1 lead.
Orebro will return to action on Monday, April 25 when they host Helsingborg.
Sam Petrone did not dress for Mjallby in their 1-0 loss to Malmo on Wednesday.
Ryan Miller was an unused sub for Halmstad in their 2-0 road loss to Norrkoping.
Brian Edwards played the full 90 minutes on Wednesday as Degerfors IF took an early tumble from the 2011 Swedish Cup with their 1-0 loss to Trollhättan in the competition's second round amongst lower division teams.
Matt Pyzdrowski watched from the bench as back up keeper Kristofer Nilsson let in a trio of goals, leading to an embarrassing loss to third-tier Limhamn Bunkeflo which dumped Ängelholms FF from the Cup.
Michael Thomas played 90 minutes wile Nick Noble made way for Ljungskile's backup keeper in their 3-0 Swedish Cup win over Torslanda IK.
