PREVIEW: WEEKEND SWEDISH ACTION
Gale Agbossoumonde and Djurgardens will look to turn things around under new coach Magnus Pehrsson while Alejandro Bedoya and Örebro will look to claim all the spoils against visiting Kalmar.
Örebro SK - Kalmar FF
Alejandro Bedoya will try to help put Örebro back in the win column on Friday evening when the team hosts Kalmar FF.
The team collapsed at the last second in their previous outing against AIK, conceding in the final seconds to slump to a 1-0 loss.
This followed a similarly disappointing result from the weekend before, when they allowed Helsingborgs a late equalizer, with the team falling to an eighth-place tie with Kalmar at the middle of the standings as a consequence of the two games.
They could feasibly lift themselves into the top three with a win should other results go their way, and will be looking to gain some momentum before it's too late in the season to follow up on last year's solid third-place finish.
Örebro are reporting a full squad available for the game while Kalmar are without defenders Paulus Arajuuri and Alban Dragusha as well as midfielder Daniel Sobralense, all due to injury.
Djurgardens IF - Halmstads BK
Gale Agbossoumonde will hope that new Djurgardens IF boss Magnus Pehrsson will choose him for the starting lineup on Saturday when the team welcomes Halmstads BK.
Halmstad defender Ryan Miller is likely to start on the bench, but will hope to take the field as a substitute.
A week of turmoil has seen a complete change of guard at Djurgarden, with the arrival of Magnus Pehrsson hopefully signaling a new start for the team. Agbossoumonde was relegated to substitute duty last weekend, and his new status under the man who reportedly was responsible for pursuing the young American is yet to be determined.
Djurgarden are still searching for their first win of the season after six games, however fortunately have come up against a Halmstad team which is also in the exact same predicament.
Miller was left on the bench for the team's 2-1 loss at Gefle last weekend, but the Notre Dame alum will hope to make his second appearance of the season in this early relegation six-pointer.
Djurgarden have no players suspended, but will be without a number due to injuries. Defenders Yosif Ayuba, Philip Sparrdal Mantilla and Daniel Jarl will all miss the contest, along with forward Joan Oremo and Trimi Makolli.
Halmstads are only missing midfielder Ivan Diaz due to a thigh pull.
Ljungskile - Östers IF
Both Nick Noble and Michael Thomas should be in Ljungskile' starting lineup on Sunday when the team hosts Östers IF in Superettan action.
Ljungskile were blown out of the water in their last outing, giving up a trio of goals while scoring none themselves on the way to an embarrassing loss in Sundsvall.
An otherwise decent start to the season - with two wins in their first three games - has put them directly in the middle of the standings headed into the weekend, and a win in front of the home crowd against a team just one point behind them could help regain some momentum as they make their way through the season.
Ljungskile will be without suspended midfielder Robin Jonsson while Östers will be missing midfielder Denis Velic also due to card suspension.
Atvidabergs FF - Ängelholms FF
Matt Pyzdrowski will be manning Ängelholms FF's goal on Saturday afternoon when the team hits the road to visit Atvidabergs FF.
Ängelholms are sitting pretty atop the division with a still-undefeated record, and will like their chances against a downtrodden Atvidabergs team which has lost both of their last two games.
Pyzdrowski earned his first shut-out of the season last weekend, albeit in the course of a scoreless draw, and the team will look for a similar performance on Saturday as they try to hold on to the Superettan top spot.
Bruno Manoel Marinho is suspended for Atvidabergs due to a red card while defender Ängelholms Jonas and midfielder Tobias Johansson are both out injured for Ängelholms.
Jönköpings Södra IF - Degerfors IF
Brian Edwards will be in goal for Degerfors on Sunday when they look to hand still-undefeated Jönköpings Södra IF their first loss of the season.
Degerfors are sitting just one point behind their upcoming opponents in fourth place, and will hope to put in a significantly better defensive performance than they did last weekend in giving up three goals in a loss to Assyriska Föreningen.
Degerfors will be missing two players; defender is working through a slight knee problem, while forward Martin Broberg needs one more week off until he is safe to return.
Södra are still without on-loan midfielder Daryl Smylie who needs a few months until he is ready to return from a severe knee injury but otherwise are reporting no absences.
Mjällby backup forward Sam Petrone will hope to see substitute minutes once again when the team hosts Trelleborgs FF on Sunday.
