Maurice Edu went the distance as Rangers edge closer and closer to another Scottish Premier League title with a home win over Dundee United.

Rangers had the game wrapped up by half time with two goals in quick succession by NIkica Jelavic and Kyle Lafferty. It was the Bosnian striker who opened up the scoring in the 21st minute after Dundee were opened up by a quality pass from Steven Whittaker. His ball into the 18 picked out the only Rangers player available, and Jelavic's attempt came off of his shoulder but still went beyond Dusan Pernis.

Lafferty started and ended his goal in the 25th minute with extreme composure. The front man laid the ball long ball forward back to Kevin Naismith before spinning and making a looping run to the right side of the field. Naismith took his space before laying the ball back into the path of Lafferty who tucked his shot past Pernis and into the far corner.

Jelavic thought he had added a third late on as his 74th minute free kick fizzed past the top left corner of Pernis' goalpost. No player was booked in the game. Rangers next face Kilmarnock on Sunday at Rugby Park.
