NORWEGIAN CUP THIRD ROUND DRAW
An all-Yank matchup awaits in the third round of the Norwegian Cup, as Steve Clark and Hønefoss will look to defend their home turf against Mikkel Diskerud and Stabaek.
A solid shut-out win over third-tier KFUM on Wednesday was enough to easily see Clark and his Hønefoss teammates through to the third round, and a huge task awaits them as they must now deal with top-flight Stabaek.
Both teams are doing well in their respective divisions, with Hønefoss staying within reach of the Adeccoligaen standing and Stabaek doing the same one level above.
Diskerud helped lead Stabaek to a tougher than expected 2-1 win over minnows Hasle-Løren in their second-round clash, but won't be taking anything for granted when they make the short scenic drive north along the Tyrifjorden to Hønefoss.
Josh Gatt and Sean Cunningham have both seen extensive action in Molde's first two games of the Norwegian Cup, and should continue to be in Ole Gunnar Solskjær's starting lineup when they visit fourth-tier Tiller.
Mjøndalen's American defender Kyle Helton should be recovered from a thigh injury by the time the team hosts cup holders Strømsgodset to be considered for playing time, however his teammate Rhett Bernstein is out for the season with an ACL tear.
Rounding out the draw, Sandefjord backup keeper Colin Burns has not featured yet for the team in league or cup this season, and this is unlikely to change when they visit 2007 winners Lillestrøm. Likewise, Sogndal backup keeper Joseph Bendik will almost certainly watch from the bench as his team hosts Superettan team Asker.
All games are scheduled to be played on Wednesday, May 25 at 6pm local time.
