INJURED CHANDLER REPLACED BY LOYD
JAMIE HILL - Friday, August 5, 2011
The USSF announced on Friday that FC Dallas defender Zach Loyd will replace Timothy Chandler on the roster for the August 10 friendly against Mexico.

Chandler suffered a minor knee injury in training with Nurnberg on Wednesday, which was enough to put his participation in Nurnberg's weekend opener and the midweek US friendly in doubt.

Loyd, a second year MLS player, will get the chance to make his second appearance for the US. He earned his first cap in January against Chile.

The Tulsa, Oklahoma native has quickly become a cornerstone of Dallas' defense. While Loyd typically lines up at right back for the Hoops, he has demonstrated his versatility by also appearing at center back, left back, and central midfield.

Former US manager Bob Bradley took advantage of Loyd's positional flexibility by deploying him at left back in his national team debut.

Loyd will be joined in Philadelphia by his FC Dallas teammate, Brek Shea.
