RECAP: WEEKEND FINNISH ACTION
A trio of Americans could not preview IFK Mariehamn from getting blown out by FF Jaro while Jeremy Vuolo and AC Oulu beat FC Koo TeePee Kotka in convincing fashion.
IFK Mariehamn 0 - 4 FF Jaro Pietarsaari
Mason Trafford, Josh Wicks, and Giuseppe Funicello all featured but could not help IFK Mariehamn this weekend as they went down to FF Jaro Pietarsaari.
The three Americans started the game, with Trafford and Wicks going the distance and Funicello being replaced at halftime.
The first goal fell just before halftime, as Jaro's Maksim Vasilyev got his left foot on a corner kick, giving them the first half lead.
It took until the 83rd minute for Jaro to get on the board again, as Venance Zézé scored off of a counter opportunity. Wicks nearly got the impressive save, but the ball sneaked by him, doubling Jaro's lead.
Ten minutes later, Irakli Siribiladze took advantage of another counter attack opportunity and finished home a rebound after the initial shot from Zézé.
Siribiladze then got the fourth goal for Jaro in stoppage time when he vollied a long pass from the defense.
Mariehamn are winless in five games and have plunged down the Veikkausliiga standings. They are eleven points from the relegation zone.
Jaro's Jari Sara and Dickson Agyeman were both booked, while Mariehamn's Kristian Kojola and Funicello were cautioned in the first half.
Mariehamn will take on Inter Turku on Monday while Jaro plays JJK on the same day.
