American midfielder Michael Bradley appears on his way to Italy, with the Serie A meddlers Chievo having been successful with a $2.5 million transfer bid from Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Though Bradley's agent Ron Waxman confirmed the deal earlier in the day, the Italian's were less forthcoming.

"At the moment he is not Chievo's player," Federica Menegazzi told YA from the club's press office. "But it's very likely."

Returning to Borussia Moenchengladbach after a poor loan spell last season to Aston Villa, head coach Lucien Favre indicated earlier in the summer that the American would not be factoring into his plans. The Swiss had not named the 24-year old to a roster this season.

When the deal sees its completion, Bradley will become only the second American player in the modern era to play in the Itlaian Serie A behind Alexi Lalas. Oguchi Onyewu's tenure at AC Milan did not see him feature in a league match.

Bradley made 76 appearances for Borussia Moenchengladbach, scoring 10 goals since being signed from Heerenveen following the 2008 Eredivisie campaign.

The Serie A club based out of Verona suburb Chievo with its population of 2,800, finished 11th in last year's standings.
