PREVIEW: WEEKEND SWEDISH ACTION
JOHN KRETLOW - Thursday, September 22, 2011
Ryan Miller looks for another start for Halmstads BK as they take on Syrianska in the Allsvenskan while Matt Pyzdrowski and Lester Dewee hope to keep Ängelholms FF at the top of the Superettan.

Halmstads BK - Syrianska FC

Ryan Miller and Halmstads BK look to dig themselves out of last place as they take on Syrianska FC in Allsvenskan action this weekend.

Miller started and went the distance in Halmstads' loss to Malmö in the midweek. It is likely that the American will see the field once again on Saturday.

Halmstads are currently in last place and 14 points from safety. With all signs pointing towards relegation, they look to garner some points and finish the season with some momentum.

Syrianska are in a relegation playoff spot but are only four points from Mjälby AIF and safety. A win this weekend would help them inch closer to leaving the relegation zone.

Michael Svensson looks to miss due to suspension for Halmstads while Syrianska's Abgar Barsom will also miss because of suspension.

Jönköping Södra IF - Ängelholms FF

Matt Pyzdrowski will look to help Ängelholms FF keep their top spot in the Superettan as they take on Jönköping Södra IF this weekend.

Pyzdrowski started and went the distance in last week's win but fellow American Lester Dewee is struggling with a hamstring injury and could miss the rest of the season.

Ängelholms FF's big win last week against Atvidabergs gave them the Superettan lead but they will need another win in order to keep their privileged spot. Atvidabergs and GIF Sundsvall are both within three points of Ängelholms.

Jönköping is currently three points from the relegation zone so a win this weekend could give themselves some breathing room.

Branimir Hrgota looks to be the only scratch of the game as he will be out due to suspension for Jönköping.

Landskrona BOIS - Degerfors IF

Brian Edwards and Degerfors IF take on Landskrona BOIS in a crucial Superettan matchup.

Edwards started and went the distance in Degerfors' big win last weekend. He is expected to start once again on Monday.

Degerfors beat Jönköping last week 6-1 and looks to build on that momentum and take three points against Landskrona. They currently trail GIF Sundsvall by four points for the promotion playoff spot.

Landskrona are coming off a 2-1 victory over Assyriska FF. They hope to get another win this Monday as they look to separate themselves more from the relegation zone. Landskrona are six points from Hammarby, who hold the last spot in the relegation zone.

Amethyst Ralani has been recovering from injury and missed Landskrona's last game but he could return Monday.

Ljungskile SK - Assyriska

Nick Noble and Michael Thomas hope to help Ljungskile SK as they take on Assyriska in the Superettan.

Noble and Thomas both started and went the distance in Ljungskile's loss to Östers IF last week. The American duo is likely to start once again.

Ljungskile is currently just three points ahead of Hammarby, who are in the relegation zone. They will need a win this weekend in order to separate themselves from the relegation pack.

Assyriska is only one point ahead of Ljungskile, so they are also in danger of falling into the relegation zone if they do not start garnering wins. The situation of both teams makes for a crucial matchup.

Mohammed Mbye will miss for Assyriska because of yellow card accumulation.

Notes

Sam Petrone and Mjällby AIF take on IF Elfsborg.
