PREVIEW: WEEKEND ENGLISH ACTION
Tim Howard and Everton will square off against arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday while Brad Friedel and Tottenham host Arsenal.
Everton - Liverpool
Everton will be looking to climb back into the top ten of the English Premier League when they host cross-town rivals Liverpool on Saturday at Goodison Park.
Tim Howard will start for Everton in goal and he will be looking to continue his strong season.
Last weekend Everton had their five match unbeaten streak in all competitions snapped when they were defeated by Manchester City 2-0.
Liverpool enter into the game sitting in fifth place with 10 points through six games. Last weekend, they capitalized on two first half goals to defeat Wolverhampton 2-1 at home.
For Everton, Tim Cahill will be a game time decision but Victor Anichebe will not play with a groin injury.
Liverpool on the other hand will be without Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson who will miss the game because of injuries.
Fulham - Queens Park Rangers
Six games into the season, Fulham are the only team in the league without a win but they will be aiming for three points when they host Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.
Clint Dempsey has been one of Fulham's best players and he will for the Cottagers this weekend.
Fulham have drawn their last three Premier League games but defeated Odense on Thursday in the Europa Leauge and should have newfound confidence heading into the game against Queens Park Rangers.
Since being promoted last year, Queens Park Rangers are off to a strong start in the English Premier League. They currently sit in 10th place with eight points through six games. Last weekend they played to a 1-1 draw at home with Aston Villa.
Fulham are not reporting any injuries at this time.
Queens Park Rangers will be without Armand Traore who will serve a red card suspension. Also, Danny Gabbidon is injured and will not play.
Tottenham - Arsenal
After beginning the year in terrible fashion, Tottenham have been very impressive in their last three games and will look to continue their winning streak on Sunday when they host London rivals Arsenal.
Brad Friedel has been a mainstay in goal this year for Tottenham and will start against the Gunners.
Tottenham have won their last three games with a combined score of 8-1 and last weekend they used a strong first half to defeat Wigan Athletic on the road. They could also receive a further boost this week with Steven Pienaar almost recovered from a groin injury.
Six games into the season, Arsenal have not been an elite team like they usually are. They currently sit in 13th place with seven points through six games. Last weekend, however, they cruised to an easy 3-0 win over Bolton.
For the team Tottenham will be without William Gallas, Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone.
Arsenal will be without Johan Djourou.
Nottinham Forest - Birmingham City
Nottingham Forest have been off to a slow start this season in the Championship but they will be looking to reverse course on Sunday when they host Birmingham City.
Robbie Findley has enjoyed a strong September and should start for Nottingham Forest while Jonathan Spector is likely to start for Birmingham.
Nottingham Forest have won just once in their last five games and last weekend they were run off the field by Burnley 5-1. They currently have just eight points through nine games and sit in 20th place.
Birmingham City also sit with eight points in the Championship but they have played two fewer games than Notthingham Forest. Last weekend they needed a late second half goal from Chris Burke goal to draw Barnsley 1-1.
Birmingham City are not reporting any injuries at this time.
Notthingham Forest will be without Paul Anderson, George Boateng, Garath McCleary, Chris Cohen and Dexter Blackstock who are all out with various injuries.
Brad Guzan will be on the bench this weekend for their game against Manchester City. Eric Lichaj however is still injured for Villa.
After battling a recent injury, Zak Whitbread could return to action on Saturday when Norwich visit Manchester United.
Stuart Holden will be out until at least March and will not be in action for Bolton when they host Chelsea.
Conor Doyle missed most of the early season for Derby County with an ankle injury but he made the bench for the first time last weekend. This Saturday he will hope for his first minutes of the season when Derby host Leicester City.
Anton Pertlin should start the game on the bench for Walsall when they host Carlisle United on Saturday. Frank Simek, however, is still out injured for Carlisle.
Mike Grella will be lucky to be in the matchday 18 for Brenford when they host Huddersfield Town.
John Paul Pittman could see action for Crawley Town when they host Plymouth Argyle.
Jemal Johnson has not seen much action this year for Southend United but could be on the bench on Friday when they host Shrewsbury.
