RECAP: WEEKEND FINNISH ACTION
Etchu Tabe and RoPS beat TPS in Veikkausliiga action while Daniel Stevens and Kyle Luetkehans both started and went the distance in PS Kemi Kings win over KooTeePee.
RoPS 3-1 TPS
Etchu Tabe and RoPS took down TPS in Veikkausliiga action this weekend.
Tabe started and went the distance in RoPS' big win.
In the 20th minute RoPS opened the scoring when Tuomo Könönen's corner kick found Mika Hänninen who volleyed home passed TPS goalie Henrik Moisanderin.
It took until midway through the second half for TPS to strike back, as Jarno Heinikangas knowcked home a Toni Kolehmainen pass.
Just four minutes later, RoPS' Mika Lahtinen scored off of a five yard shot into the back corner of the net, to the delight of the home fans.
Moments later, Lahtinen would strike again from just outside the box, ensuring the RoPS win.
RoPS' Hänninen and Henrik Ojamaa were booked while Sami Rähmönen and Jere Uronen received yellow cards for TPS.
With three games left in the season, RoPS is now seven points from safety. This leaves RoPS with little margin for error, but two wins in a row have now put momentum on their side.
RoPS next takes on KuPS while TPS plays Haka.
PK-35 0-2 AC Oulu
Jeremy Vuolo and AC Oulu defeated PK-35 in weekend Ykkönen action.
Vuolo started and went the distance in Oulu's win.
Juuso Majava opened the scoring for Oulu in the ninth minute, giving the away side the early advantage.
Matias Ojala then doubled the score early in the second half for Oulu.
The lead turned out to be insurmountable for PK-35, giving Oulu the win.
Xhecdet Gela and Fidan Seferi were booked for PK-35 while Janne Hietanen and Ojala received yellow cards for Oulu.
Both teams are out of the promotion race with one game left in the season.
PK-35 takes on HIFK next week while Oulu plays PS Kemi Kings.
PS Kemi Kings 1-3 KooTeePee
Daniel Stevens and Kyle Luetkehans were unable to put PS Kemi Kings in the win column as they went down to KooTeePee.
Stevens and Luetkehans both got the start and played ninety minutes for Kemi.
Jukka Santala opened the scoring for KooTeePee in the 28th minute, giving the away side the early lead.
Erkka Lansimies then doubled the lead in the 50th minute, putting Kemi in a hole.
In the 54th minute, Emenike Mbachu got one back for Kemi, but Johannes Laaksonen scored for KooTeePee in the 79th minute, preserving the win for them.
There were no bookings in the game for either team.
Kemi takes on AC Oulu next week while KooTeePee plays PoPa.
Kellan Wilson did not make the bench in HIFK's loss to OPS.
